They Say Change Is Good

I'm back ladies and gentlemen. Today let's discuss change. Is it really the cornerstone of becoming more than what you really are? Is it the complete reformation of your personality and your soul? Okay that sounds a little deep but everyone is trying to make some type of change. Wether it is good or bad. But can one really make a change or just an adjustment. For example, I am who I am. I basically have two moods, happy or pissed off. They can be somewhat adjusted but for the most part they remain the same. I'm not saying people shouldn't work on adjusting and becoming better, I'm just saying don't look for a drastic change in a short amount of time. Especially if that person has some years on them. Just remember change is good for some and bad for others. You'd better be sure what and who your changing for is worth it.

Change...hmm! That is the only constant as they say. Change is going to happen. The question is either how we make it happen, and when it does happen...how we handle it. I would be more specific and say that if you change for growth, it is better. It hurts like hell though!

Change is brought on oftentimes as the response to unforseen circumstances (maybe due to our own naivete' or ignorance). How we respond to those circumstances show us who we are. Ultimately we have to like who we are when we look in the "symbolic" mirror. If we don't like what reflects back to us, then it falls on us to search outside ourselves for the strength to tweek it - i.e. change. The other commentator said it well - It does "hurt like hell". I appreciate the thoughtful commentary.

I think that we need to know the difference between really wanting and committing to change or just wishing that you could become what society tells you that you should be. For instance, when you do something and immediately afterward you make a self proclamation that you will never do that again and it's all good for approximately two weeks till you realize you are who and what you are again. The definition of insanity is repeating the same action over and over and expecting a different result. Maybe the idealistic you needs a reality check by the real you...

The biggest thing about change is that we all need to remember that no one will change unless they make a conscious decision to do so. Nobody can force change upon someone else. When people try to do that, it usually results in a more rebellious attitude from the person it is being inflicted upon. Good, bad, or indifferent, change has to happen individually.
